This book focuses on the management of livestock resources to assess the significance of livestock as a primary resource within the socio-economic complex of human groups settled in the Lower Guadalquivir Basin during the 3rd mill. BC. The study examines two main areas: the estuary of the Guadalquivir River, where Valencina-Castilleja is the primary site of investigation, and the Corbones River Valley, with the sites of Carmona and La Loma del Real Tesoro serving as secondary points of interest. Additionally, other nearby sites, such as Parque Miraflores, Poblado Calcolítico, and El Amarguillo II, located in different geological environments of southwestern Iberia, were incorporated into the comparative analysis to explore similarities and differences in the exploitation of biotic resources. Using conventional zooarchaeological protocols and isotopic analyses of paleodiet (δ13C and δ15N) and mobility (87Sr/86Sr, δ18O), the aim is to enhance the understanding of herd management strategies for each type of domestic livestock at both intra- and inter-site levels.
